Bug Busters, based in Woodstock, Ga., participated in a coat drive hosted by the Georgia chapter of PestVets.
Multiple pest control companies throughout Georgia participated in the coat drive benefitting the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program in December 2020.
Bug Busters and its employees contributed more than 80 coats to the donation drive which collected more than 1,000 coats total.
The PestVets Council is a FMC-sponsored, military veteran-focused group of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA).
The PestVets Council is now recognizing Bug Busters as a PestVets company, due to the company’s commitment to hiring veterans and participating volunteer activities benefitting U.S. military veterans and active duty service members.
“As a company, we’ve always recognized the importance of giving back to our community, including our veterans and active-duty service members,” Bug Busters CEO Court Parker said in a news release. “This distinction as a PestVets Company is certainly something to be proud of.”
In addition to its service offices in Georgia, Bug Busters operates out of a Chattanooga, Tenn., office. Bug Busters was founded in 1984 and is a member of the NPMA, the Georgia Pest Control Association, the Certified Pest Control Operators of Georgia, the Tennessee Pest Control Association and the South Carolina Pest Control Association.
ABOUT PESTVETS
The NPMA established the PestVets Council in 2015. It aims to create awareness of the career opportunities in the pest management industry, assist veterans as they transition into the industry, recognize veterans who have contributed to the industry, and give back to the community and show appreciation for men and women serving in the military.
In addition, PestVets provides recruitment resources for pest management professionals looking to hire veterans, a mentorship program, a PestVets Gives Back initiative to help veterans, and a PestVets Veteran of the Year award that is announced at the NPMA’s Legislative Day event each year. FMC Corp. has supported PestVets initiatives since its inception.
