PMP editors partner with The Pest Posse, PWIPM

Senior Editor Diane Sofranec and I have a combined 60 years of journalism experience, about 32 of which have been devoted to covering the professional pest management industry. It’s miraculous, really, since we are both just 35 years old!

Our industry coverage typically stems from talking to pest management professionals (PMPs) on the phone, via email, at a conference or during a visit to their places of business. This fall, however, we are pleased to announce that we can be seen on two new platforms:

Pest Management Professional (PMP) magazine has teamed with The Pest Posse to present the “Today’s PMP” show on the latter’s new home for video content, Pest Posse TV. The program will debut Aug. 28.

• I will be part of an Oct. 14 panel discussion for a webinar hosted by three chapters of Professional Women in Pest Management, an affiliate group of the National Pest Management Association.

In monthly episodes for “Today’s PMP,” Diane will chat with The Pest Posse’s co-founder (and PMP Editorial Advisory Board member) Foster Brusca about industry news and hot topics, results of PMP’s exclusive surveys, what’s coming up in our latest issue, and more. There will also be recurring segments such as “What’s in Your Truck” and “What’s in Culley’s Truck,” which debuted on The Pest Posse’s YouTube channel and are being carried over to Pest Posse TV.

The Oct. 14  Zoom-hosted webinar is titled “Smashing the Glass Ceiling and Inspiring the Next Generation of Women to Lead.” It is presented by the New England, Illinois and Pakistan chapters of PWIPM.

I will be joined on the panel by Ayesha Azam, entomologist for Urban Pest Management, Lahore, Pakistan; Julie Heincelman, ACE, territory manager for JP Pest Services, Milford, N.H.; and Robiar Smith, owner of RB Pest Solutions, Chicago, Ill. We will be moderated by Courtney Carace, ACE, COO of Pest-End Inc., Plaistow, N.H.

Diane and I encourage you to check out Pest Posse TV and to sign up for the free webinar. Candidly, each of us is more comfortable behind a keyboard vs. in front of a camera, but we see these platforms as opportunities to share information and insights with a growing number of PMPs. We also expect to learn a lot along the way — and we are looking forward to it!
